San Juan, Puerto Rico – los boricuas Miguel Varela y Alejandro Rabell han estado activos con sus respectivos oncenos universitarios y dando de que hablar.
En el caso del prepa de Suffolk University, Miguel Varela, fue nombrado como el «Rookie de la Semana» de la Commonwealth Coast Conference de la NCAA Div. III. Varela anotó el gol del empate en la victoria en el amistoso de Suffolk ante Framingham State, y tuvo la única asistencia del partido en el gol de Suffolk ante Gordon University en el inicio de la temporada universitaria.
Suffolk comenzó el año segundo en la tabla detrás de Western New England University.

Por otra parte, Alejandro Rabell y el onceno de la New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) continuaron la temporada de la America East Conference de la NCAA Div. I con una derrota 2-1 ante La Salle. NJIT tiene actualmente un record de 2 victorias, 4 derrotas y 1 empate.
Comenzaron la temporada con victoria 4-1 ante Fairleigh Dickinson, seguido de derrota 2-1 ante James Madison, un empate 2-2 ante Rider, derrota 4-3 ante Seton Hall, derrota 5-2 frente a Iona y la victoria 2-1 en casa ante UMASS Lowell.
Rabell fue crucial durante esta última victoria anotando el tanto de la victoria.
