BRADENTON, FLA. — The Chicago Fire fell to the Kansas City Wizards 3-2 in a preseason scrimmage Wednesday at the IMG Academies facility in Bradenton, Fla. Forward Patrick Nyarko scored both goals for the Fire.

In the 38th minute, Roland Paul Bebey Kingue served a ball from deep in the right corner into the box and Nyarko placed a header past goalkeeper Kevin Hartman to record the first goal of the match.

Nyarko doubled the lead in the 40th minute as he fought through the Kansas City defense and slipped a goal past Kansas City goalkeeper Kevin Hartman.

Kansas City scored their first goal in the 49th minute as Michael Harrington made a run up the left flank, eventually earning a corner kick. Kevin Souter put the ball into the area, and Aaron Hohlbein headed the ball into the net.

The Wizards leveled the score in the 53rd minute as Davy Arnaud placed a penalty kick in the left corner of the net.

The Wizards’ third goal came in the 63rd minute. Zusi played a corner kick into the area, and McKenzie hit a header just under the bar for his 2nd goal of the game and a 3-2 Kansas City lead that held until the final whistle.

The Fire will next face the Puerto Rican Islanders on Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. CT in Bradenton, Fla.
