West Hartford, Conn. – After attending the Puerto Rico U21 National Team’s official invite-only tryout last month, University of Hartford men’s soccer player Jorge Rodriguez has been selected to the Puerto Rico U21 National Team Pool.
The selected players from this Pool will compete in the Central American and Caribbean Games, the team’s most important competition of the year. The prestigious international tournament will be held in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico in July 2010 and will host U21 teams from Mexico, Honduras, Colombia, Costa Rica, Venezuela and Cuba.
Rodriguez, a defender, has anchored down the Hawks’ back line for the past two seasons. Last season, the East Hartford, Conn. native saw action in 17 games and helped the Hartford defensive line post five shutouts. In 2008, Rodriguez started and played in all 18 games, earning America East All-Rookie Team honors after helping the Hawks’ defense to eight shutouts.
